The Financial Crimes Compliance Data Analytics Manager will be responsible for assisting in developing and maintaining the Financial Crimes Compliance’s analytics and data program, providing oversight and direction on data, analytics and technology systems. The leader in this role will be responsible for assisting FCC to gain and maintain efficiencies in various workflows, and implementing and maintaining optimization of the FCC’s monitoring tools, and increasing the capabilities in data visualization.
The Manager ensures that the Data Analytics team meets service level standards (customer service; turn-around time; risk management and regulatory compliance; audit soundness; and productivity and efficiency). The Manager will ensure a risk-based approach in identifying and completing projects using varied research/analytical techniques, automated systems and sources of information, while ensuring adequate support is provided on highly sensitive projects such as regulatory examination, the development/deployment of detective systems, etc. This leader will be an interface with Information Technology, assist with on-going enhancements of the BSA/AML platform and tools.
The FCC Data Analytics Manager typically directs a small team (2-5).
Provides oversight and direction on analytics, data, technology, and supports systems delivery for FCC monitoring tools. Provides ownership of FCC monitoring systems (transaction, Customer Risk Rating, Sanctions) to ensure adequate controls are in place. Promotes a robust analytical function for risk detection, profiling, and mitigation. Leveraging advanced analytical techniques and innovative technologies to improve risk detection and increase operational efficiencies.
Supervise Financial Crimes Compliance Data Analytics staff in their performance of daily tasks, holding them accountable for quantifiable results. Monitors and reports on Service Level Standards performance and other KPI’s. Coordinates and distributes work to teams and individuals based on active and accurate understanding of their ability and experience, and the team and individual’s workload pipelines.
Provides technical support and assistance to FCC Data Analytics staff, helping to troubleshoot, and determines how and when to escalate issues. Oversees the tuning and optimization of transaction monitoring system, Customer Risk Rating scoring algorithm, and Sanctions monitoring system. Supports FFC management in the development of an effective governance program, in accordance with Model Risk Management guidelines, that meets regulatory requirements.
Serves as a liaison between FCC Data Analytics personnel and Information Technology teams as related to technical processes and requirements, risk mitigation, efficiency, and customer service. Works closely with Risk Management, Compliance, and Operations to mitigate compliance risk and ensure audit-soundness.
Provides supervision to and directs the activities of FCC Data Analytics employees; performs supervisory tasks such as performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and interviewing candidates for employment; develops work schedules; provides necessary training and coaching.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a college or university in a quantitative/technical field and 8 or more years related experience in BSA/AML. Work related experience should consist of relevant experience in the financial industry. Master’s degree or PHD preferred.
Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of general banking, including understanding of bank products, services, and regulations, policies and procedures, with an emphasis in BSA/AML knowledge.
Advanced to Expert knowledge of analytical techniques and statistical analysis technologies. Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Python. Considerable experience using SAS, R or other statistical software. Previous experience using Hadoop or other big data platform to enhance analytics required.
Excellent interpersonal abilities, including oral and written communication skills with significant experience in writing technical document for diverse audiences.
Six Sigma Black Belt Certification preferred.
Previous experience supervising a small group of employees (at least 2-5) preferred.
