Overview

The position of Loan Review Officer is responsible for analyzing all types of credit information pertaining to diverse types of loans and making judgments as to the appropriateness of the grades of loans under review and critical aspects of management of loans under review; prepares workpapers and reports and occasionally presents reports to management or committees; maintains control over current workload; furnishes information relative to work performed; provides assistance to Senior Loan Review Officers and management. 

Responsibilities

  • Reviews all pertinent credit and financial information, including business and personal financial statements, spreads, cash flow analyses, reports services, credit bureaus and other sources as applicable.  Capable of independently handling moderately complex loans and lending relationships and complex loans and relationships with Senior Loan Reviewer assistance.
  • Properly risk-rates each loan/lending relationship reviewed. 
  • Analyzes loan reporting and tracking systems and prepare appropriate comments. Determines the need for more thorough investigation or additional information and conducts such additional procedures, as appropriate.
  • Properly evaluates credit administration components and attributes in relationships reviewed.
  • Must be familiar with a variety of industry analyses.
  • Prepares Loan Review workpapers.
  • Ensures that all Loan Review, electronic and hard-copy, files are kept current and orderly.
  • Assists in training of other Loan Review Officers, trainees and interns.
  • Assists the Lead Examiner on each project in any way needed to complete the subject examination.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management or Business from a four (4) year college or university, or four (4) or more years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 
    • Work related experience should consist of an in-depth background in credit analysis or lending. 
    • Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be applicable to the financial industry. 
  • Ability to spread large, complex financial statements and tax returns and complete cash flow forecasting. 
  • Ability to make pertinent comments relating to the current credit risk as reflected by the spread. 
  • Ability to analytically review appraisals to determine appropriateness of value.
  • Extensive experience in reviewing and/or analyzing Commercial Real Estate Loans.
