The Building Engineer is responsible for inspection, preventive maintenance, operation and repair of building HVAC, chillers and generators and other building equipment, electrical systems, fixtures, plumbing etc., by timely and accurate completion of maintenance schedules and branch/department service requests for such repairs.  Coordinates and works with outside contractors for large jobs by accepting bids, reviewing invoices and inspecting work done. Recommends replacement and major repairs of equipment by outside contractors.  Provides high level of quality and efficient service to all service users such as branches, departments and co-workers.  Works with Chief Engineer to learn all aspects of managing Main Office engineering tasks in addition to working at other Bank properties.


Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.


  • Assists with inspection, maintenance and operation of building HVAC, chillers and generators.  Monitors, programs and manipulates HVAC systems by use of a computer-operated energy management system.  Monitors, maintains and repairs all plumbing and electrical systems in the building.  Maintains operating and maintenance procedures for machinery and systems.  
  • Backs up Chief Engineer to provide service repairs and preventive maintenance at the 2700 West Sahara facility, as scheduled or requested, on a timely basis. 
  • Oversees engineering at the OperationsCenter.   Ensures Chief Engineer is kept up-to-date on major engineering activities at that site. 
  • Assists in reviewing major service requests for repairs and maintenance, determining nature and extent of problem and making recommendations as necessary. 
  • Assists in completion of repairs and/or new installations, such as air conditioning, heating, roofing, electrical and plumbing when possible, or obtains bids and makes recommendations as appropriate.  Assists with overseeing and approving completion of work by outside vendors. 
  • Maintains records of repairs and maintenance done on all building equipment to assist in future decisions to replace or repair equipment.                 
  • Responsible for daily, weekly, monthly and annual preventative maintenance for Main Office and OperationsCenter, including escorting vendors while on-site.  May be asked to assist at other bank facilities, including on-site visits, to ensure building equipment is working efficiently. 
  • May be required to coordinate movement, repositioning, and transfer of equipment and furniture, as requested.
  • Maintains machinery spaces and machinery storage area, keeping clean and organized at all times. 
  • Assists with overseeing checks, tests and inspections of fire and life safety systems, and obtaining reports of condition.  
  • Operates personal computer to obtain and process data. 
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all records and data received and produced.              
  • Interacts frequently with supervisor and building manager.  Accepts calls from bank personnel and other tenants, and provides timely service with further approval.


  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and/or trade school equivalent; and four (4) or more years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Work related experience must consist of technical ability in making repairs and handling maintenance of facilities and equipment. 
    • Educational experience through specialized training sessions should be building/maintenance related.
  • Universal CFC certification preferred; will be required to obtain and maintain this certification while in position.
  • Proficiency in the utilization of appropriate equipment and tools. 
  • Knowledge in all facets of building maintenance, systems and equipment, safety and security.  
  • Intermediate skills in and personal computer operation, including word processing and spreadsheet software programs (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel etc.). 
  • Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees. 
  • Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations. 
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills. 
  • Ability to work with limited supervision while performing duties. 
  • Ability to lift 75lbs. 
  • Current state Issued driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
