Overview

The position of Loan Servicing Officer is responsible for supporting the Loan Servicing Operations Department by ensuring that staffing is completing daily work as assigned and in accordance with policy and procedures; ensure department activities are running smoothly and efficiently; provide leadership, training, and supervision within the department. Assists with coordinating department meetings; reviews daily work; monitors for compliance with state and federal laws and regulations and the bank’s lending policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Supervises the daily activities of the department including, but not limited to, effective delegation of assignments, developing work schedules and providing necessary training.

  • Ensures that loan transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that emails are responded to in a timely manner and with appropriate attention to detail.
  • Reviews and approval requests for use of loan suspense general ledger accounts and daily reconcilement of account.
  • Consistently applies superior decision making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals, requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures, keeping within assigned approval limits and using these instances as learning tools for employee development.
  • Assists with coordinating department training activities and meetings; resolves inquiries or issues relating to loan servicing operations.
  • Process and/or approve loan transactions and electronic processing and miscellaneous corrections.
  • Participates in the development and growth of department staff through excellent communication skills both verbal and written, along with strong delegation skills assuring a highly cross-trained staff.
  • Assumes responsibility for loan processing, closing, and other duties in the absence of staff members or in overload situations.
  • Perform personnel actions including performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and interviewing candidates for employment; supervises the daily
  • Processes, solves, and answers complex customer transactions, problems or inquiries.
  • Answers telephones, answers questions, and directs callers to proper Bank personnel.
  • This position typically directly supervises a small group of employees (1-5)

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of Banking/Financial Services experience.
  • One to three (1-3) years experience in Loan Servicing operations and management
  • One to three (1-3) years experience with Knowledge and training in lending activities and terminology
  • One to three (1-3) years of knowledge of loan related state and federal banking compliance regulations, bank policies and procedures.
  • Previous experience directly supervising a small group of employees (1-5)
  • Intermediate skills in personal computer operation, mainframe computer (FIS) system; Word and Excel.
  • Intermediate math skills, calculate interest, commissions, proportions, ratio and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure; using whole numbers, common factions and decimals; and locate routine mathematical errors.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others; interpret documents, understand and write procedures, write reports and correspondence, speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Ability to deal with intermediate problems involving multiple facets and variable in non-standardized situations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime, including some evenings and/or weekends
  • Ability to travel locally and/or regionally
