    The position of Relationship Manager is responsible for identifying a target market for new business and subsequently developing and establishing a book of new business from those relationships. The position is responsible for the prescreening, negotiating, and coordination of the closing of a variety of major and complex deposit relationships with emerging technology companies and actively sells the bank’s treasury management products.

     

    Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking regulations

    Responsibilities

    • Compiles and analyzes market research data to develop recommendations regarding products and services focused on needs of target market.
    • Engages in business development activities and solicitation of new business based on the target market.
    • Calls and visits target customers to promote and sell Bank products and services to establish a new book of business.
    • Develops and maintains customer data base including calls and results on all new business relationships. Makes reports to superiors as required.
    • Interviews prospective applicants and requests specified information related to loan or credit application; corresponds or re-interviews applicants to resolve questions regarding application information.
    • Performs basic pre-qualification assessment and prescreening analysis of financial condition for new potential deposit relationships.
    • Gathers all information necessary to present a deposit or treasury management opportunity to senior management for approval; meets with new/potential customers; visiting sites of loans; sells bank’s deposit and treasury management products; refers and recommends acceptance to BSA department if required.
    • Identifies loan opportunities within deposit client portfolio and engages appropriate lending team early in the process.
    • Maintains a superior knowledge of financial industry status and trends.
    • Consistently applies superior decision making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals, requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures.
    • Interacts frequently with subordinates, peers and functional managers.
    • Responds timely to inbound inquiries, answers questions and directs callers to proper Bank personnel.
    • Responsible for compliance with all applicable banking laws and regulations.
    • Complies with Bank Secrecy Act (“BSA”), OFAC Anti-Money Laundering (“AML”), and US PATRIOT ACT policies, procedures, by properly verifying the identity of any person/business opening an account, maintaining records of the information used to verify each customer and consulting lists of known suspected terrorists before opening an account.
    • Complies with the compliance policies and procedures.
    • Properly risk-rate each customer as outlined in the Customer Identity Program.
    • Report any customer suspected of suspicious activity immediately to the BSA Officer.
    • Participate in required annual BSA/AML/OFAC and Compliance training.
    • Represents the Bank in various community, civic, and community reinvestment functions to further enhance the Bank’s image and develop additional business; assists the Bank in establishing and maintaining market position in the financing arena.
    • Understands business implications of decisions; displays orientation to profitability, demonstrates knowledge of market and competition; aligns work with strategic goals.

    Qualifications

    These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner.     • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and/or a combination of experience and education.
    • Knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank operational policies.
    • Knowledge and experience in financial statement and tax return analysis typically resulting from a combination of education in accounting, financial and/or credit analysis or related areas.
    • Advanced knowledge of Bank depository procedures, Bank policies and procedures, and the Bank’s products and services.
    • Extensive knowledge in all facets of relationship management.
    • Exceptional analytical skills.
    • Typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
    • Basic skills in personal computer operation and word processing and spreadsheet software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).
    • Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
    • Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work with no supervision while performing duties.
