  • Overview

    The Risk Manager is responsible for the analysis of model risk as well as providing input into shaping the strategic modeling choices for the bank. Provides independent oversight and governance for senior managers of model analytics and their implementation into the risk architecture that drives valuation, risk and stress results. This role spans all aspects of model risk across all business units and across all risk types.

    Responsibilities

    • Subject matter expert and owner of front to end model risk governance, including coordination of the model inventory process, coordination of model risk reporting and enhancement of the model risk governance framework
    • Conduct the model inventory process, own and maintain respective parts of the model inventory and together with the model validation, establish a model validation plan including ongoing status tracking
    • Compile model risk reports for the entity and across risk types aggregating model usage, model validation findings and remediation actions
    • In coordination with the Group develop and/or regionally adapt policies, procedures and templates for model risk governance aspects including model development and model validation
    • Ensure regulatory compliance specific to SR11-7 guidance for model risk management
    • Interact with auditors/regulators as subject matter expert for assigned governance aspects
    • Provide comprehensive stakeholder management for tracking/escalation regarding model risk governance related regulatory initiatives and remediation actions as well as for ongoing training
    • Enhance internal relationships when communicating model risk governance and related model validation aspects across all levels of the organization including senior management and stakeholders from front office, quantitative functions, risk managers and finance controllers
    • Execute effective project management across multiple programs and initiatives run in parallel, identify and leverage intersections to efficiently track program status to ensure timely and appropriate deliverables

    Qualifications

    • Graduate degree in a Quantitative subject (Ph.D. in Economics highly preferred)
    • 5+ years of experience in model risk management, governance or ongoing model risk reporting.
    • Experience in stress testing (DFAST/CCAR) is a plus.
    • Audit experience is a plus.
    • Relevant professional experience in the field of governance work, e.g. policy setting, legal functions or similar space including related process re-engineering
    • Demonstrable professional experience in project management and stakeholder coordination across multi-program environments
    • Ability to drive initiatives and design conceptual controls
    • Highly analytical and structured thinking with proven ability to solve specific problems independently and as part of a team
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Attention to detail and ability to ensure consistently high quality of work produced, self-motivated and focused
    • Report data management and analysis skills with experience in relevant software packages
