  • Overview

    This position will support the Risk Modeling Department as a Risk Modeling Intern. Under the direction of the Risk Modeling manager, the Intern will assist with data, modeling and documentation projects. This position is a maximum 20+ hour part-time internship (no benefits).

    Responsibilities

    • Work with risk modelers on credit risk model development projects.
    • Learn and assist team in data analytics, statistical testing, model documentation and implementation testing.
    • Assist team in communicating model concepts and model assumptions to management and model validation teams.
    • Actively participate in monitoring and reporting on model performance.
    • Actively participates as team member in the use of statistical software and data analysis tools.
    • Works with Team in order to properly implement data models and scorecards and integrate them into existing system architectures.
    • Use Microsoft software applications to build/update Model Documentation, project plans, and provide model data analysis.
    • Develops an understanding of the bank’s operations, business model, and production systems.
    • Special projects as requested.

    Qualifications

    • Junior or Senior pursuing Bachelor’s degree in statistics, economics, finance, data analytics, or related field; Graduate students in statistics, economics or finance.
    • Some SQL, SAS, Excel, R, and/or other data manipulation software tools.
    • Confidence in basic statistics and regression modeling.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to present and communicate clearly in a professional environment.
    • Must be able to work from the Downtown Phoenix location (parking garage or light rail reimbursement offered).
